If you ever ask a bestselling author where they do they get inspiration to write, they will list a number of different tactics, routines, people, experiences and even objects.
Finding inspiration in all kinds of places, things and people, is a must for anyone who wants to practice writing.
Inspiration is the fuel that energizes writers to keep on writing. Inspiration can be developed in the human mind by several different factors. If you find yourself feeling uninspired to write, don’t worry -you’re not alone. Let’s take a look at some of the things that writers can take inspiration from.
Read Good Books
A good Book is a writer’s best friend. Several hundred million books have been globally published since the advent of the publishing press. This means that writers have several hundred million opportunities to find inspiration. Read books in the same genre that you want to write. As an authors, reading books can help you jog your brain, and come up with new ideas for your own story.

Friends and Family
No matter what type of family you have, or even if you don’t have a family, there is always something interesting about them worth writing. Maybe you start by writing a journal entry about a stressful day you had with your in-laws; who came to visit from out of town and one of them really hates you and has no problems letting you know how much they don’t like you. And you end up writing a mystery murder novel.
You might even decide to start your own blog to share stories of your friends and family. Or you can start a blog about something that you’re passionate about. Which will give you a ton of new inspirations are you need to come up with new blog topics regularly.
Your deepest personal experiences can be the best inspiration for your writing practice. The best part is that you’ll always have your memories to go back to when you want to write. Write about something that happened to you when you were a child, when you were in college. You can write about an experience you had an hour ago. Inspiration from your own life experiences often end up being the most worthwhile stories you write.
Your everyday surroundings are always filled with novel-worthy stories and inspiration. What some might see as a normal baseball game or a boring Sunday picnic, can inspire a bestseller for a writer.
If all else fails and you still find yourself struggling to come up with inspiration to write. Always keep a list of writing prompts nearby. You can do this by having a small notebook and pen with you at all times. When you think of something that could make for an interesting story, write a few words down that will remind you of it later. If you do this, you’ll always have a plethora of inspiration for writing.
